Dr. Sidhu was born on November 29, 1937 in Tarn Taran, India, son of the late Dr. Kartar Singh and Amar Kaur. He was an avid sportsman at the university, serving as captain of the cricket team and winning numerous accolades as a cricket bowler.

He married Jagjeet (Meenu) Kaur in 1962 and shortly thereafter moved to New York City to continue his medical training at New York Medical College, Metropolitan Hospital Center. From there he relocated the family to Montreal to complete his training at the renowned Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery at McGill University. Dr. Sidhu went on to spend the majority of his career as a board certified Neurosurgeon in private practice in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC.

As a physician he was loved by his patients and his staff for his gentle, patient and attentive manner, and highly respected by his peers. He led a successful neurosurgery practice, helping thousands of patients over his long career.

Outside of his medical career, Dr. Sidhu was devoted to serving the Sikh community. He and his brother, Jaswinder, were instrumental in establishing a Gurudwara in Silver Spring, Maryland.
