To the family of Bill Hagan,
Please accept our immeasurable sympathy for your loss. We came to know Bill through Our Lady of the Fields Church and specifically at their 7 AM Sunday service. He always sat next to me and was quick with a humorous comment or observation; it was the kind of thing that made you smile even after the Mass had started. I remember he and Paula attending together and then he came religiously when she could no longer attend. He was devoted to her through her long struggles. We would ask after him, "Do you have family in the area, Bill?" "How can I help, Bill?", but it was obvious that he was a private person . You had to respect that. I think he was happiest when he was the unofficial greeter at the grocery store there in Crofton. He knew everybody! If I stopped by when he was there with his newspaper tucked under his arm, he would peruse my cart, make a few suggestions and finish off the encounter with a joke and a smile. I even got a few hugs out of him over time!
I've heard that the passing of a loved one leaves a heartache that no one can heal. But I believe that our love for Bill has given us memories that not even Death can steal. Please accept our sincere sympathy for your loss. It is our loss, too.
