I lost a great and a true friend the moment I came to know of his departure. I had known Desh Deepak Chadha since 1957 and shared many moments back in India with him. Lately we were discussing Indian philosophy off and on. I admire his depth of knowledge and application of that knowledge in his daily life which set an example for others to follow. In my opinion he has accomplished what he came here for. We will miss him.

Deepak uncle was my favorite uncle for many reasons. One of the biggest reason was that he treated me as if I was his niece. I always talked about him with my friends and family as he has been my true hero and inspiration. I will miss the 1.5 or longer phone calls we had discussing about finance, parenting, activities we both were always involved in, life, yoga, Chinmaya Mission, spirituality etc etc. No phone call was long enough for us and we always had to cut it short :-(( During my trips to Columbia, he made sure there was right kind of food in the house and also cooked scrumptious meals for us. He always went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable during my stay there. I still don't believe that I will not hear from him on my b'day or anniversary or receive those long and enlightened emails about Bhagwad Geeta. I know I am in denial and will always look forward to his wisdom and presence in my life in some way or the other. I know God will find a way to fill this void in my life somehow.

One regret I have is that even though I wanted to talk to him so badly, I was not able to due to his weakness. I will miss the services in MD, but we will do something in our gurudwara here to remember and honor him.

Uncle, you will always be with us and we will be looking for you up in the sky every night. You have and will always have a very special place in our hearts!

Big hugs and lots of love to you Uncle! We will miss you SO much!!!!

Although I haven't known Deepak very long and was able to work with him in one of the Health Living Workshops earlier this year, I noticed how dedicated he was in how he gave back to his community unselfishly.

I pray that the family and his friends will have peace, comfort, and hope. I will greatly miss him.

A Gentleman, in the full sense of the word. Pleasant and thoughtful in all manner of discourse. Probably the nicest fellow in the Columbia Tennis community. But, always giving maximum effort to win the Match. His passing is a loss to humanity.

we attended the same yoga classes for a while where deepak would share words of wisdom and stories of his faith and culture. i didn't know him well, enough to share greetings & a smile. one day out of the blue, deepak (knowingly) came to me and said 'you look like you need a hug. may i give you a hug?' he hugged. i cried. like a baby. on his shoulder. for a long time. standing beside the front desk at the columbia gym. afterwards, he spoke a few kind words, shared some of his own stories and offered his thoughts on mindfulness, the practice of yoga and living a happy life. i thanked him for his kindness, but i'm not sure i ever told him how much his gesture meant. Deepak was an example to us all, on how to live one's life in love , compassion and above all with a sense of humor.
