Bessie J. (Ward) Daff

Bessie J. Daff, a resident of Gambrills, MD, formerly of Glen Burnie, MD and Martinsburg, WV, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie, MD with her family at her side. She was 84. Bessie was born on December 4, 1931 in Orient Hill, WV, and was the daughter of the late David Lewis Ward and Mary Marguerite (nee Walker) Ward.

Bess was a homemaker and devoted herself to her husband and raising their daughters.  She will be remembered as being strong in her faith and as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all.  She enjoyed traveling and camping, solving crossword puzzles, reading; especially her bible, singing hymns with her sisters, family gatherings, square dancing in earlier years, was an avid cook and baker and had a special fondness for the Orioles and Ravens.

Bess is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Earl B. Daff of Gambrills, MD; two loving daughters, Brenda January of Severna Park, MD and Patricia Bush (Michael Bush) of Pasadena, MD; 4 cherished grandchildren, Stephanie January, Aaron Pauley, Tyler Bush and Kyle Bush; adorable great-grandchild, Brantley Chase; two sisters, Louvertia Warner of Brentwood, MD and Bonnie Crockett of Pleasant Grove, UT; half sister, Pauline Branham, Beckley, WV; half brother, James Taylor of Sedalia, MO.  Bess is preceded in death by her brothers, Ross, Rodger and Richard, sister, Loutecia Brackman and half sister, Diane Van-Neil.

The family will receive friends at the Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1411 Annapolis Road, Odenton, MD on Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm & 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Funeral Service will take place on Friday, June 17, 2016 at 11:30 am at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow to Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, MD.
