Dear Family and Friends,

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Vishnu J. Patel on January 3rd , 2025.  Vishnu was born on May 5th,1935 to Jethabhai and Chanchalben Patel in Bhadran, India.  He was one of six children: Naginbhai (late),Vinubhai, Manjuben (late), Ashwinbhai, Surekhaben.   He was a proud graduate of Maharaja Sayajirao (MS) University's School of Technology & Engineering in 1957, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering.

In 1961, Vishnu married Viru Patel, kindered spirits. Together, they shared a partnership that nurtured a strong family and lasted 64 years.  A beloved brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, Vishnu’s life was defined by his love for his family & friends, courage and a passion for nurturing the next generation. Whether tending to his garden, mentoring his family, or contributing to local causes, Vishnu made a positive impact to his community. His values—hard work, generosity, and humility—shaped the lives of those who were fortunate to know him.

Vishnu worked as a Deputy Engineer for the State of Gujarat from 1957 to 1970, playing a key role in infrastructure development. In 1970, he made the bold decision to immigrate to the United States in 1970, settling in Annapolis, Maryland, where he continued his engineering career as a Senior Engineer for the Department of Public Works.

Vishnu is survived by his wife, Viru Patel; daughters, Nina Patel, Shetal Patel, and Gira Patel; son-in-law, David Euler; and his cherished grandchildren, Ela Patel-Euler and Ettan Patel-Euler. He is also survived by extended family members and a host of friends whose lives he touched deeply.

Vishnu’s life was a testament to the values he held dear and will be remembered for his laughter, kindness, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the following organizations in Vishnu’s honor:  Girls Growing Education
