Suryakantam Bhargava

Suryakantam Bhargava resident of Washington DC passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021 at Sibley Memorial Hospital surrounded by her entire family. 

Mrs. Bhargava was born October 3rd 1936 in Palakollu, West Godavari, India; daughter of late Kasipathi Sastry and Sripada Sundaramma. She was the youngest of four children. She married Mr. Pattabhiram Bhargava on July 12th 1954 in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, India.  

 The Bhargava’s built a lovely life in Chennai, where they raised 5 children. Suryakantam was an avid member of the Velachery Ladies Club and the Madras Velachery Lions Club. Along with her children and husband, she immigrated to the United States in 1986, quickly acculturating to the fast-paced lifestyle of New York City.  

 In her later years, couple settled in the DMV area, where she called her children daily, finished an innumerable amount of word puzzles, and most importantly, pampered her grandchildren with love and affection. She was a proud amamma, who taught her grandchildren her favorite recipes, watched basketball games with them, and attended all of their dance and music performances. 

 Every memory of Suryakantam will be lovingly cherished by her four children, nine beautiful grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.  She leaves a lasting legacy of warm family values and fond memories.
