We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A.
Shirley Lee Schroth of Forestville, MD passed away peacefully on June 9, 2022 ten days shy of
her 73rd birthday. Shirley was born to Walter Roach and LaVetta McGowan Roach on June 19,
1949. She graduated from Central High School in Capitol Heights, MD in 1967, and married the
love of her life, Donald Schroth, that same year.
Shirley and Donnie were the definition of soulmates, even born on the same day at the same
place, though separated by a year. Donnie often joked to their family that on his first birthday, he
went to the hospital nursery and picked Shirley out as his future wife. Shirley and Donnie would
have celebrated an incredible 55 years of marriage on June 30th. Together, they enjoyed raising
their family, traveling to Myrtle Beach, and playing the slots at the casino (Shirley was always
the lucky one!).
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Lavetta Roach, her brother, Arthur
Johnson, her sister, Carolyn Messineo, her daughter-in-law, Karen Burns, and her lifelong best
friend, Marsha Burns. She is survived by her loving husband, Donald Schroth, her brother,
Walter Roach, Jr, her two children Donna Schroth (Karen) and Donald Schroth, Jr., her
grandchildren, Susie Denby (Jon), TJ Sebastian (Corey), and Casey Burns (Brett), and her
great-grandson, Jameson, as well as many nieces, nephews, and close friends who loved her
Shirley’s family has elected not to hold funeral services at this time and will instead share
information regarding her celebration of life at a later date.
