Savitaben Patel died peacefully on Sunday, October 1st at the incredible age of 90. She was a treasured mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. The second of 6 children born in Ashi, Gujarat, she was dedicated to her friends and family around the world. Those who knew her will testify to her generosity, hospitality, and strength. She was friends with everyone, even people a generation or two younger. She said this kept her young at heart. Her contacts list spanned the world and she made sure to keep up with everyone. She loved feeding people, making sure everyone experienced the love she put into her handmade nasto, freshly ground spices, and world-famous athanu. She was a woman of faith. Only a worldwide pandemic stopped her from celebrating Navratri in Nadiad, which she had done for decades with her late husband, Hirubhai Patel. She will be missed by everyone she touched throughout her long, rich life. She is survived by her daughter Jayshree, son-in-law Sanjay and grandsons Samip and Sanket and their wives, Bhoomi and Sima. Her 4 great-grandchildren, Aneri, Arjun, Shay and Serene, will have had the pleasure of knowing such a strong, independent, and loving lady.
