Saturnino Berrios-Lopez

Saturnino Berrios Lopez, 86, of Severn, Maryland passed away on August 31, 2024 after a short time of illness. Mr. Berrios was born on February 6, 1938 to Bienvenido Berrios and Hipolita Lopez in Humacao, Puerto Rico. After graduating from High School, he joined the US Army in 1957 becoming a Combat Medic. In 1961, Mr. Berrios married Maria Elena Figueroa in Humacao, Puerto Rico and had three sons, Alfredo, Henry and Angel Luis. They remained married until her death in March 2020 after 59 years of together. While in the US Army, Mr. Berrios served in Hawaii, Germany, Louisiana, Kentucky, Guam and deployed twice to Vietnam, 1967-68 and 1970-71. After serving 20 years, Mr Berrios obtain the rank of Sergeant First Class and retired in 1977 in Fort Meade, Maryland. In 1983, Mr. Berrios became employed with the Department of Corrections for the state of Maryland at Brockbridge Correctional Facilities, Jessup, Maryland and retired in 2003. Mr. Berrios was a born again Christian and was a member of Bethel Assembly of God in Savage, Maryland since 1985. He also was a founder and charter member of Iglesia Pentecostal de Evangelizacion Misionera in Baltimore, Maryland since 1982. He earned a degree from Instituto Biblico Latino Americano, New York in 1985. He would often teach, preach and do other ministerial duties as needed. Mr. Berrios was predeceased by his wife Maria Elena. He is survived by his son Alfredo and his wife, Michelle; his sons Henry and Angel Luis and his wife Carmen; his grandchildren Vincent and his wife Rachel, Daniel, Michael and his wife Sarah, Samuel and his wife Sara, Breeanna and Victor; his great grandchildren Carter, Israel, Jasmyne, Alexander, Christopher, Elliette, Aria and Ella. The family will receive friends at the Bethel Assembly of God Church in Savage, MD, 9001 Vollmerhausen Road, Savage, MD 20763 on Thursday, September 12, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The family will also receive friends on Friday, September 13, 2024, from 11:30 am until 12:45 pm. Interment will be held at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery Crownsville, MD at 1:45 pm with Military Honors.
