Rosemarie (Yates) Lewis

Rosemarie “Rose” Yates Lewis departed this life and gained her heavenly wings on August 12, 2020.  She was born in Chicago to the late Harold Yates, Sr. and Una Yates.  Rose, attended high school in Chicago, retired from a life of civil service with the United States Postal Service, and was an active member of St. Augustine’s Cathedral African Orthodox Church.  In her retirement she socialized with friends and created notable artwork for her family at the Vincennes Senior Center.

She is proceeded in death by her husband Leroy Jerome Lewis, her daughter Philippa Marie Lewis, her brother and sister-in-law Henry Clifton Buford and Louise Buford, and her nephew Darrell Buford.

She is survived and leaves to cherish her memories, a loving son, Philip Stanley Lewis Sr (Judith); beloved grandchildren, Tonya Payne (Ronald), Philip Lewis Jr (Christy), and Taneisha Lewis; dearest great grandchildren, Philesha Lewis, ZaKwan Hutchings, Joseph Adrianzen, Joshua Payne, Jada Rainey, and her favorites, the triplets, Philip Lewis III, Paul Lewis and Peter Lewis; a host of nieces and nephews, Leon, Dian, Larry, Deborah, Harold, Clifton “Bernie”, Pamela, and Jeffrey; a host of cousins, Kenneth Mitchell and Paul Flynn; other relatives; and a host of dear friends, Velma Elaine Marshburn (devoted), Mary Fletcher (devoted), Steve McWilson, Everard Jeffers, and Reginald Young.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
