On May 10, 2021, Richard E. Miller passed away peacefully at home at the age of 87. Born in Iowa, Richard proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy for 20 years, working as a Radioman and as a Technical Controller. This service took him to Guam, Italy, Morocco, Virginia and finally to Maryland. Richard lived in the Bowie area for a few years before settling in Gambrills in 1977. After retiring from the Navy, he worked as a contractor for NASA for over 10 years, and followed that with another decade as a civilian government employee. Richard was an avid reader of both books and the local newspaper, and was also a big sports fan, supporting both the Orioles and the Redskins. Most especially, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events.
Beloved husband of 44 years to the late Barbara Miller; loving father of Tommy Miller, Kelly Bidinger, and Alison Miller; caring brother of Susie and Butch; cherished grandfather of Michael, Patrick, Kirsty, Jake, Bryce, and Carrigan; adoring great-grandfather of Ford.
