Our beloved Richard Allen, Sr. went home to be with the Lord on October 12, 2020, after a long illness.
Richard “Rich” Allen was born October 8, 1935 in Harlem, New York, the only child of William and Louise Allen. Like many young men in Harlem NY, he loved playing stickball, and sitting on the stoop hanging out with his friends. After graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force in January 1955. He later married Lorraine Norman of New York City on November 5, 1960 and they traveled the world in the Air Force for the following 20 years. He was a loving, devoted husband to the late Lorraine “Suggas” Allen for 50 years.
After his retirement as TSgt. from the U.S. Air Force, he continued his education and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of MD. He worked for the Anne Arundel County Office of Personnel and the United Cerebral Palsy in Annapolis. He was dedicated to serving his community, loved being involved in politics, the Boys & Girls Club and the Retired Enlisted Association just to name a few.
Rich is preceded in death by his wife Lorraine and parents William & Louise. He is survived by, his daughter Tracie (Carson) Allen, son Richard Allen, Jr., grandsons Derrick Batts and Da’Cota Allen-Ward, brother-in-law Joseph (Joyce) Norman, niece Dawn (David) Edmund & Reuben Hurdle and many other family and countless friends.
The viewing will be held on Friday, October 16, 2020 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM, and the home-going service on Saturday, October 17, 2020, 11 - 12 PM, in the Chapel with COVID restrictions of 40 people.

Rich will be laid to rest after the service at the Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville, MD with his wife, Lorraine.
