Renee K. (Kotche) Bachman

On Friday, September 14th, 2018,  Renee K. Bachman passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Beloved wife of 12 years to Christopher F. Bachman of Severn; devoted mother of Alexander C. Bachman and the late Stephen A. Bachman; loving daughter of Thomas and Judith Kotche of Gambrills; caring sister of Timothy J. (Kelly) and Joseph A. (Lisa Kleff) Kotche of Gambrills.  She is also survived by many other loving family members and dear friends.

Renee was born in Rota, Spain, where her family was stationed during her father’s service in the U.S. Navy.  She was a resident of Severn since 2013 and previously resided in Columbia.  A Benefits Specialist, she worked most recently for Anne Arundel County Public Government, and previously for Lockheed Martin and U.S. Food Service.  Renee had a passion for creativity and enjoyed scrap booking, baking and knitting.  She loved to travel and explore the world with her family.   She was a prolific seller on eBay and took pride in the service to her buyers.  Renee had a great love for animals and sponsored care for abandoned, abused and terminally ill cats.  Most importantly, Renee enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.  Her laugh, sense of humor, smile and dedication to the people she loved will be dearly missed by all the lives that she touched.

To honor of their late son Stephen, Renee created “Stephen’s Heart”, providing handmade baby blankets and hats free of charge to parents of stillborn children. Blanket and hat sets are donated to local hospitals and distributed to grieving parents, many of whom end up in the hospital unexpectedly without packing a special outfit. Stephen’s Heart also raises awareness of pregnancy loss, offers resources, and support to anyone affected by pregnancy loss. Most importantly, the organization keeps the memory alive of a special little boy named Stephen Arthur.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, October 20th, at Nichols Bethel UMC (1239 Murray Rd, Odenton, MD 21113).  The gathering will begin at 2:00 PM and the sharing of thoughts, memories, and prayers will start at 2:30 PM.  The family hopes you will be able to attend.
