Mahendra Shah

Mahendra B. Shah, a 45 year resident of Olney, MD, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 16, 2022. He was 81.  Mahendra was born on October 26, 1940 in Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh, India and was the son of the late Bhawanji H. Shah and Laxmi Shah.

Mahendra began his life in Vidisha, and soon moved to his maternal grandmother’s house in Mumbai with his 2 older brothers, where he attended a boarding school. His family then moved to Gamdevi, Mumbai, where he attended the Fellowship School, and Sydenham College. He enjoyed a vibrant 1960’s, full of dancing, and followed his brothers to the US in 1968. Mahendra completed the majority of his career with Raleigh’s, a chain of upscale Washington DC based department stores, and rose to become an internal auditor at the company.

Mahendra is survived by his beloved wife, Geeta Shah; younger brother Hemant Shah; younger sister Saroj Durlabhji; daughter Nirali, her husband Joyram, and their children Satya and Sumati; and his son Anay, his wife Sheeba, and their son Mekhai.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., on Monday, June 20, 2022 at 11:00 am. Cremation will be private.
