Mackay Cook Kirkley I (Big Mack) passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021 at the age of 74. Mack passed away at his home surrounded by his family. Big Mack was born on September 13, 1946 in Richmond, Virginia. He was raised in the loving home of Jack and Doris Kirkley in Greenbelt, Maryland where he graduated from High Point High School in 1965. Mack also achieved the level of Eagle Scout. During his last year of high school Mack met his soon to be wife Carolyn. Mack and Carolyn were married two weeks after their high school graduation. Mack worked at Goodyear Tire Company for 47 years where he served as a Store manager and top salesman. When Mack was not working he enjoyed spending his time on his boat with his family. In his later years he gave up the boat and loved being outside enjoying nature and great Food. Big Mack is survived by his wife Carolyn Kirkley of 55 years. His daughter Tina Tinsley, son-n-law Paul Tinsley and granddaughter Michelle Tinsley. His son Mackay Kirkley II and daughter-in-law Melody Hicks and grandsons Griffin Kirkley and Sullivan Kirkley, along with many dear friends and family.
The family will receive friends at the Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1411 Annapolis Road, Odenton, MD 21113 on Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. A Funeral service will take place at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow to Southern Memorial Gardens, Dunkirk, MD.
