Karen O’Connor Dennehy

Karen O’Connor Dennehy passed away early Christmas morning at Baltimore Washington Medical Center after being diagnosed with congestive heart failure, in which she was being treated for over the last several months.
Karen is survived by her husband, Kevin Ignatius Dennehy, her children, Meghan O’Connor Dennehy (Jennifer), Colin Stewart Dennehy (Heather), Kyle Dennehy, and her grandchildren, Connor and Camden Dennehy (Colin) and Olivia Boa-Dennehy (Meghan). In addition, she was survived by her sister, Sue Welch (Jim), many sisters and brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Gerald Stewart O’Connor and Alma Emily (Crawford) O’Connor, respectively.
Karen wishes were to be cremated with her ashes being spread in the Atlantic Ocean off the pier in Topsail Beach, North Carolina – her favorite beach where she experienced many meaningful memories with her family.
Karen worked for many years as an elementary and middle school math teacher. She retired in 2002, serving her students and peers for 27 years in the Anne Arundel County Public School system. She served as an Interdisciplinary Team Leader and Math Department Chair while teaching in middle school. In 2012 Karen and Kevin moved from Gambrills, Maryland to Washington, North Carolina to enjoy their retirement years together. While living in Pamlico Plantation, Karen served several years as the Community Chairperson for the Clubhouse Committee and the Community Relations Committee.
Karen will be deeply missed by her family, friends, community, and students.
