John William Miller, a resident of Ellicott City, passed away on Thursday, November 09, 2023, at his home. He was 86. John was born on October 20, 1937, in Baltimore, MD, and was the son of Frank and Helen Elizabeth Miller.
John and Pat were married in 1956, starting their family in 1958, landing in Baltimore on N. Longwood Street. There in a row home, the family grew to eight people. Busting at the seams, the family then moved to Hanover in 1976 and lived there until 1988 when they purchased a home in Marriottsville. As the family grew, adding grandchildren and great-grandchildren, life was full of family, food and fun—especially holiday celebrations. Family always brought a smile to his face and laughter to his belly. The years after his wife’s passing moved him to seek out many new friends at his favorite hangout, “Bare Bones” and he was dubbed the “Mayor of Bare Bones.” His final move to Ellicott City Parkview brought him closer to his new and forever friends. The friendships he made at Parkview sustained him until his last days.
John is survived by his loving children, Michele Renee Webb, John William Miller, Denise Lynn Peake, Cary Frank Miller, Melanie Ann Peck, and Kevin Lee Miller; devoted sister, Viola, Kusler; 16 adorable grandchildren; 14 cherished great-grandchildren. John is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patsy Ellen Miller (nee Carey) and his siblings, Thelma, Charles, Roland, and Frankie.
The family will receive friends at the Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., on Friday, November 17, 2023, from 3 to 5 pm and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 10:30 am in the Donaldson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Meadowridge Memorial Park in Elkridge, MD.
