On November 14, 2018, Gloria A. Hawkins went home to be with her Lord. She was born September 6, 1938, in Louisiana, to the late Granderson Sr. and Beatrice Hamilton. Devoted wife of 58 years to John E. Hawkins; beloved mother of Jonna Hawkins, Joyce Hawkins, and Janet Dawson and her husband Paschal; loving sister of Herman Hamilton, Granderson Hamilton Jr., and Beatrice Mouton; adoring grandmother of James Hawkins. She was predeceased by her daughter Janice Hawkins and eight siblings. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and other dear family members and friends.
Gloria worked as a supervisor for Handleman Company. She was a troop leader for both the Brownies and the Girl Scouts and taught Sunday School at The Church at Severn Run. Gloria enjoyed watching games shows, completing puzzles, and sewing. She also enjoyed dancing to Al Green and was known for her fantastic cake decorating skills. Most especially she loved to spend time with her family and her grandson.
After the committal service family and friends are welcome back to the church for a gathering of food and fellowship.
