Gerald “Jerry” A. Cole, a resident of Elkridge, MD, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 in Columbia, MD after a long battle with lung cancer. He was 82. Jerry was born on May 2, 1938 in Laurel, MD, and was the son of the late Carlton Richard Cole and Gladys (Lilley) Cole.
Jerry was fun-loving and enjoyed life. He loved to dance, the outdoors, and most of all his family and friends. Jerry adored his Yorkies, Dougie and Randy. When Jerry walked into a room it was immediately lit up with his lighthearted personality, laughter and smile. He was a big fan of John Wayne and western movies. Jerry spent his career as a Master Carpenter, business owner and a member of the Army National Guard of Maryland.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Diane Cole; loving son, Glenn Cole (Iva), and loving stepchildren, Penny (Di) and Steve. He was also survived by five beautiful grandchildren: David, Michael, Trey, Danielle and Amber; seven great-grandchildren; four brothers: Bruce, Dennis, Ronald and Raymond; two sisters: Elaine and Cheryl; many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
Jerry was predeceased by his son Gerald Cole, Jr., stepson, Randy Norris, parents and two sisters, Lilley and Sharon.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gilchrist Hospice Center, 6336 Cedar Lane, Columbia, MD 21044.
