Garth R. Mackenzie

On January 13, 2016, Garth R. MacKenzie, a long term resident of Millersville, passed away at the age of 70.   Devoted husband of 44 years to Nancy MacKenzie (nee Rees); beloved father of Stephen MacKenzie of Kansas and David MacKenzie of Rockville; Loving brother of Roberta Tier of Virginia and the late Thomas MacKenzie; Cherished grandfather of Tyler and Ethan MacKenzie. Garth earned both his undergraduate degree and his master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University.  He received his doctorate in Management from the University of Maryland University College where he then worked as an Associate Chair and Collegiate Professor in the Graduate School of Management and Technology. He was a voracious reader and especially loved history. Garth had previously taught Sunday school at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church and coached soccer. He enjoyed fishing and had also earned his pilot’s license.
