On July 13, 2020, Frederick “Fred” P. Rappe Jr. of Odenton passed away peacefully at home at the age of 68. Beloved husband of 23 years to Donna G. Rappe (nee Nitsche); devoted father of Kyle and Kevin Rappe and step-father of Kevin Knott and his wife, Tammy; loving godfather of Meghan and Caitlin Watson; caring former husband and friend of Catherine Shanks; adoring grandfather of Natalie and Macy Knott.
Fred received his master’s degree in Geography and Environmental Planning from Towson State University. He worked for the Howard County Government before moving on to the Maryland Department of Transportation where he worked for over 30 years. Thereafter, he worked for the University of Maryland College Park, and most recently, worked for the Union Station Redevelopment Corporation in Washington D.C. Fred enjoyed travelling and preferred the warmer climates where he could read a book on the beach, watch the sunsets, and taste the local cuisine. A sports fan, he liked to support the Capitals, Ravens, and Orioles and also enjoyed watching golf. He and Donna would spend evenings playing board games and working on puzzles. When he wasn’t in the kitchen creating a gourmet meal, Fred could be found constructing his Lego Architecture. More than anything, Fred enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends.
