Edgar Earl Adams Jr., 86, of Gambrills, passed away suddenly on Friday, March 29. Born on September 5, 1932 to the late Susie and Edgar Adams, he was a graduate of Arundel High School and the University of Maryland. A proud U.S. Navy veteran, he served as a radar operator on a mine sweeper.
In July 26, 1958, he married his high school sweetheart, Marion Jones of Severn. After teaching agriculture at Frederick Sasser High School in Prince George’s County for 15 years, he and his wife opened the Gambrills Garden Center on the north bound lane of Rte. 3. They worked side by side for 42 years to build a successful business. As well respected and knowledgeable professionals they made many area homes and businesses a bit more beautiful. Upon retirement in 2003, the couple built their dream home in Gambrills.
Earl was a life-long learner with many interests and enjoyed being a member of "The Ball Busters", a Sun Valley Mixed bowling league and the Anne Arundel County Farm Bureau, Indian Landing Boat Club, Delmont UMC and “The Guild” at the O’Malley Senior Center.
In addition to his wife of 60 years, Edgar is also survived by his elder sister, Mary Collins of Gambrills, and a loving extended family in both Maryland and Virginia.
