It is with heavy hearts that Dustin Thomas Hontz, a resident of Odenton, MD, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. He was 27.
From an early age Dustin knew he was meant to be in the Fire Service. At the age of 16, he joined Odenton Volunteer Fire Department. He lived at the station most weekends and became an EMT as soon as he could at 18. Dustin worked at Baltimore Washington Medical Center as a companion then security guard which is how he met his wife. Dustin then went on to work as an Anne Arundel Public Services Dispatcher, EMS Dispatch Operator for MIEMMS, EMT for Univeristy of Maryland Express Care, Howard County Fire & Rescue Hospital Liason, and Howard County PIO. He was always working at least 2 jobs and volunteering at the Firehouse. Four years ago, Dustin fell in love with our horse Pickles and would dote on her whenever time allowed. Dustin always loved the beach or being near any body of water. For this reason Dustin was married to his wife, Kristen on April 25, 2021 on the beach of the Chesapeake Bay. Giving himself and being there for others was his mission in life.
Dustin is survived by his devoted wife, Kristen Hontz; beloved mother, Jennifer McCabe and husband, David; beloved father, Thomas Walter Hontz, Jr and wife, Tracy; 3 loving siblings, Bryce, Ryan and Lauren Hontz; paternal grandparents, Thomas Hontz, Sr. and Bonnie. Dustin will be missed dearly by all that knew him.
The family will receive friends at the Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, for a Memorial Gathering from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. A Memorial Service will begin at 3:00 pm. Interment will be private. Repass will be at Odenton Volunteer Fire Department Hall following Memorial Service.
