Donald Michael “Mike” Doll, a resident of Baltimore, MD, passed away on Sunday, November 07, 2021
at Harbor Hospital. He was 61. Donald was born on January 12, 1960 in Baltimore, MD and was the only
son of Ruth Doll and the late Donald Marvin Doll.
Mike, a career firefighter, dedicated his life to the service of others. After he graduated from Mount Saint
Joseph Catholic High School in 1978, he began his lifelong dream of becoming a firefighter. He began
volunteer service at the Woodlawn Volunteer Fire Company while still in high school, and in 1979 he
began working at Fort George G. Meade Fire and Emergency Services. Throughout the years, Mike also
worked at several other fire departments, including Department of the Navy (Cheltenham) and the
United States Naval Academy, but returned to Fort Meade where he retired from in April 2010 as
Captain. At the time of his passing, Mike worked for Northrop Grumman Corporation as fire marshal.
Besides his career, Mike was a proud and loving father to children Samantha and Logan. He supported
them throughout the years and helped to support their dreams and passions. He never met a stranger,
everyone he came into contact with was welcomed with open arms and treated like family. Mike was a
history buff and enjoyed everything from fire history, railway history, amusement parks, Batman, and his
vast collection of memorabilia is a testament to everything he was passionate about. In May 2015, Mike
became a grandpa for the first time when grandson Matthew was born, and then again in January 2018
when grandson Maverick was born. Although living in different states, Mike would make regular visits by
train to spend time and bond with his grandchildren.
Mike is survived by his two loving children, Samantha Doll of Lexington, SC and Logan Doll of Baltimore,
MD; beloved mother, Ruth Doll; two cherished grandsons, Matthew and Maverick Belcher.
A Celebration of Life was held at the Orchard Beach Volunteer Fire Department on November 13th,
2021.
