On November 9, 2021, Dianne Regina Kidwell, returned to the loving embrace of her Heavenly Father surrounded by family after an extensive battle with cardiovascular disease. She was 79.
Dianne is preceded in death by her mother Anna Delores Schmidt, née Racik, and her father Howard Alfred Schmidt. She is survived by her husband William F. Kidwell, Sr., her son William F. Kidwell, Jr., her daughters Tara Kidwell and Anne-Marie Kreitzer; her son-in-law, B. Justin Krietzer; her beloved grandchildren Zih Schwabe-Kidwell, Savanna Marie Kreitzer, Ronan Schwabe-Kidwell, Bernard Kreitzer, Joshua Kreitzer, and Michael Krietzer; and her brother Frederick Schmidt and his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Born on March 6, 1942 in Flushing, NY, Dianne grew up in Beachhurst, Long Island. When her family moved to Maryland, she attended and graduated from St. Patrick’s Academy in Washington, DC. Upon graduating, she went to the University of Maryland, while working as a Secretary for the U.S. Department of Labor. She later worked with NASA in their Office of Manned Space Flight and Reliability and Quality Control before rising to the serve at NASA as a secretary to executives for the Apollo Program.
In 1968, Dianne married William F. Kidwell, when they moved to Crofton, MD, where she dedicated her life to being a devoted wife and mother to her family. In the mid 90’s, Dianne ran a successful Fine Jewelry and Gifts Shop called the Silver Bell in Stevensville, MD, as a female entrepreneur. Each year Dianne enjoyed taking her family to pick black raspberries to make her famous jelly that people have enjoyed all over the United States as well as in Australia, New Zealand, South America and Europe. Dianne loved family gatherings and decorating. Along with her family, she was a volunteer at the Shrine of Immaculate Conception, where she would decorate the Shrine during the Christmas Holidays.
Dianne was the heart of her family, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
