Dave Barbour 1954 - 2024

Dave Barbour departed this world on September 21, 2024, after bravely battling a very aggressive form of cancer these past several months. His presence remains larger than life in our hearts, daily thoughts and all that we do each day.

Dave was born in San Francisco, California on September 6, 1954 to Mimi Urdang Barbour and William John Barbour. He spent his childhood exploring San Francisco and Daly City, California alongside his twin sister, Tema and older sister, Lisa. He'd spend many an afternoon riding his bike to Golden Gate Park, venturing out to the San Francisco Zoo or fishing at Lake Merced.

As Dave entered his teen years, he discovered what would become his lifelong passion - playing guitar. He was a phenomenal guitarist and songwriter. He loved to accompany dozens of his favorite artists by ear, including Gary Moore, Eric Clapton, Joe Bonamassa, Santana and Toto, to name a few. He also loved sharing music with family and friends, always bringing joy and healing through the power of music. Dave continued to play just days before he passed and his musical legacy will continue to live on through his soulful recordings.

Dave met the love of his life, Kerri, in 1985, while working for Carnation Dairies in Oakland, California. The pair quickly bonded over a shared love of animals, music, and just life in general. After countless conversations, laughs and travels, the two made it official three years later in March of 1988. Dave and Kerri were soulmates and shared a deep, unconditional love that will live on forever.

In 1990, their first daughter, Katie was born and their second child, Kelsie followed three years later in 1993. Fatherhood meant everything to Dave. He'd exchange his work bump cap for a baseball hat and hit the soccer fields or basketball courts to coach Katie, Kelsie, and countless other children. He attended every piano recital, orchestra concert, cross country meet, and any important event in the lives of his children. To grow up with Dave as a father was to grow up believing in magic; he made up the best stories and created the most imaginative games that we still hold dear to this day.

The love and legacy Dave has left behind will endure in the beautiful shining light of Katie, Kelsie and his grandson Lukas and we will continue to honor and love him until we are joined again one day. He was a loving soul who possessed the most generous heart and led each day with incredible honesty, fairness and kindness. To know Dave was to love him. He will be missed dearly but we will live by his example and carry him with us through all of life's little moments.

Thank you for sharing his love and light with us.

If you so wish, donations may be made to the Best Friends Animal Society , a beautiful animal sanctuary where we all visited as a family and made such wonderful memories many years ago. Thank you.
