She was raised in Gaston, North Carolina where she received her early education and graduated from Gaston High School in 1981.
Cindy leaves cherished memories with her husband George Burton of Odenton, Maryland. Their loving marriage spanned more than 25 years. She had two sons. She was the beloved mother of Angelo Marcus Vincent-Greene, Jr. (Dorothy) of White Plains, Maryland and Darius Burton of Alconbury, England. She was so, so proud of her sons and loved them with all her heart. She was the adoring grandmother of Landon, Leila, Lyla, and Lana. She treasured her daughter-in-law and grandchildren. Her family was the source of her strength.
She was the devoted sister of Ronald, Tara “Linda”, Carl, Dwight (deceased), Roy Lee (deceased)(Joyce), Randy (deceased), Charlene, Charlie Wayne, and Dennis. Cindy also leaves behind her caring in-laws George and Shirley Burton. She was blessed with a host of nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. Fond memories also remain with her aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives too numerous to name.
She attended North Carolina A&T State University and later joined the Air Force serving as an Air Traffic Controller. She graduated from North Carolina Central University with her bachelor’s degree. She later obtained her master’s degree from the University of Phoenix. Cindy was dedicated to her profession as a Project Manager and served in this capacity as an employee of several companies and for the federal government. She truly enjoyed traveling the world.
Cindy was a selfless and committed friend to many. She loved the Lord and drew on her love for Him as she provided countless hours of counsel and support to those who needed it. She brought joy to the lives of everyone she met. Her bright smile and infectious laugh will be missed by all who knew her.
Cindy was an unwavering warrior in her fight against breast cancer. She faced every day without complaint, no matter how difficult and lived her last days with a positive outlook. On July 9, 2021, our beloved Cindy answered the Master’s call to rest from her labor and passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by love.
