Calvin Douglas “Doug” Lasher, 74, a resident of Hanover, MD, passed away Monday morning at 9:06am on April 5, 2021 at Laurel Medical Center. Doug the son of the late Calvin Harry Lasher and Virginia Mildred (nee Howlett) Lasher, was born on August 31, 1946 in Phoenix, AZ.
Doug at the young age of 9 started work on a paperboy route and soon became the head manager of all the paperboys. His hard work ethic, drive, and proud patriotism led him to enlist in the Air Force in 1965 during the draft where he served his country in the Vietnam War - as a Sergeant - Senior Airman (E4). The Airforce brought many opportunities for Doug as a Field Engineer where he had been a part of Apollo 11 with NASA and thereon to work for E-Systems and Raytheon as a Government Contractor and retired as Senior Systems Engineer. Doug was a businessman at heart and had a business racing, breeding and raising trotters. He had a love for these horses that were raised and had one that was a Champion Filly named Tessel in the 2006 NY Sire Stakes Championship. Doug in his youthful years had many things he was a part of which included the Boy Scouts, President of his Churches youth group, active athlete in Swim, football and baseball. With his competitive wit he enjoyed sharing his story that he had beat an Olympic Gold Medalist- Mark Spitz at the YMCA swim club. In his older years he had served as Elder at Living Water Community Church, and helped support and enjoy his beautiful grandchildren.
Doug is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, OK Son Lasher of Hanover, MD; three loving children, Jon Douglas Lasher and wife (Wendy) of Baltimore, MD, Nathan Douglas Lasher and wife, (Chaney) of Hanover, MD and Kristen Oak Lasher and husband (Haehoon Cho) of West Friendship, MD; 7 cherished grandchildren, Kayla, Destiny, Kylie, Faith, Noah, Abigail Lasher and Adaline Cho, and younger sister Susan (nee Lasher) Rand. Along with his parents, Doug is preceded in death with his sister, Carole Amanda (nee Lasher) Heimbach.
The family will receive friends and family at the Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. 1411 Annapolis Road, Odenton, MD 21113 on Thursday, April 15, 2021 from 12:30 pm to 1:15 pm and will have a short service from Pastor Han from 1:15pm to 1:45pm.
