Allen Taylor Obituary

Allen Russell Taylor of Severn, Maryland, passed away peacefully in the presence of his family on November 16, 2022.

Born on January 1, 1939, in Newport News, VA, to the late James Lannes Taylor and the late Roxie (Carraway) Taylor, he was also preceded in death by his brother, James Taylor, his beloved grandson, Jordan Taylor, and his wife of 57 years and the love of his life, Priscilla (Andrade) Taylor.

He is survived by his daughter Lori (Paul) Crawford of Millersville, MD, sons Gregory (Annette) Taylor of Apex, NC, and Jeffrey (Julie) Taylor of Catonsville, MD, and seven grandchildren:  Rachel (Robert) Bee of Lynchburg, VA, Emily (Ryan) Minter of Millersville, MD, Garrett (Allyson) Crawford of Wilmington, NC, Jeremy Crawford of Paju, South Korea, Cameron Taylor of Apex, NC, Nicholas Taylor of Apex, NC, and Jared Taylor of Catonsville, MD.  He is also survived by his great-grandson, Daniel Jordan Bee of Lynchburg, VA.  In addition, he leaves behind his brother Joseph (Grace) Taylor of Melrose, FL, and sister Deborah (Stephen) Piascik of North Port, FL.

After graduating from South Kingston High School, South Kingston, RI, in 1957, he proudly served in the US Coast Guard for thirty years, from 1958 to 1988, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer-4. His assignments included service aboard the USCG Mariposa, and duty stations in Boston, MA, New York, NY, Staten Island, NY, the US Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT, Curtis Bay and Baltimore, MD, and USCG Headquarters in Washington, DC.  Following his Coast Guard career, he was employed by American Airlines at Baltimore Washington International Airport from 1988 to 2003.

Throughout the course of his life, he generously gave of his time and talents to his church, playing saxophone and guitar, teaching Sunday School, and caring for facilities and grounds. While he will be remembered for his warmth, sense of humor, and love of family game nights, he will be remembered most for his steadfast love and devotion to his family and friends, and his countless acts of selfless service to others. His life was a testimony to his love and faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
