Xingrong Wang

王兴荣于2026年5月17日晚上10时10分逝世， 享年82岁。

他1944年7月出生于江苏省扬州市, 父亲王松林， 母亲刘龙娣， 他在家里是长子。他上高中时因为学校解散，转了三所学校，但以他的聪明和勤奋，他考入了中国科技大学近代物理系， 于1968年毕业。他不仅是一位学者，更坚守崇高的道德操守，并为自己所信奉的理念而奋斗。在文化大革命期间，在大学里因為保护刘达，当时的科大校长，而受到迫害。毕业后分配到山西省昔阳县，在生产组工作至1973年。在此期间遇到林敏君结为夫妇， 共度56春秋。

在生产组的工作结束后， 当地和近代物理最接近的工作单位是山西省气象局。因此他开始了他的气象生涯。他精确预测暴雨总降水量在水坝的安全管控范围内而避免了炸坝，挽救了下游的居民， 受到当地政府奖励。1979年他举家迁至安徽合肥。他在安徽省气象科学研究所致力于气象研究 (科极，正高级工程师)，多次获得省科技进步奖，于2004年退休。退休后移民到美国和女儿一家居住， 仍然坚持气象研究工作，在中国和美国的气象学报上都有发表科学论文。

他一生热爱气象事业，在工作上吃苦耐勞，恪尽职守。他对子女和兄弟姐妹也是关心倍至。他弟弟没有工作，尽管自己经济不富裕，拿出一笔钱给他的弟弟开店。女儿想买地盖佛堂， 虽然他持着“不支持也不反对”的态度， 仍然给了她一笔钱帮助买地。当他不得不因为缺乏资金和数据而放弃气象研究， 他在当地超市Food Lion 和Dave & Busters上班，而后又投资股票，希望给儿子经济上补贴一些。

他一生生活简朴， 爱好下围棋，坚持练气功， 走路。 他读书面广， 自称杂家， 有自己的思想。作为一个探求真理的科学家，他大半生是一个无神论者。最后几年在女儿的家庭佛堂里接触了更多的灵性修行。2025年五月23日一次神的体验使他感叹 “上帝真伟大”。自从那以后他将科学和灵学统一， 得出结论 “道就是真理， 真理就是上帝”。他最后的愿望是能看到新的公共佛堂盖起来。

Xingrong Wang, 82, passed away on May 17th, 2026. Born in Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province, China, he was the eldest son of WANG Songlin and LIU Longdi. During high school, he transferred twice due to school disbanding. Nonetheless, with remarkable intellect and diligence, he entered the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) and majored in modern physics. In addition to being an academic, he upheld strong morals and fought for what he believed in. During the cultural revolution, he was persecuted because he defended LIU Da, the USTC President. After graduating, he was relocated to a ranch in Xiyang County in Shanxi Province during the Down to the Countryside Movement. He did hard labor for four years till 1973. He met the love of his life, LIN Minjun during that period. Their love led to a marriage in 1970 and a remarkable 56 years together.

At the time in Xiyang, meteorology was the closest field to modern physics, so he began his career in meteorology in the Shanxi Meteorology Institute Xiyang Branch. His accomplishments include accurate weather forecasting that prevented the destruction of the local dam and the villages downstream. In 1979, he and his family moved to the Anhui Meteorology Institute in Hefei, where he devoted much of his life to research, earning multiple science and technology innovation awards. In 2004, he retired and moved to the USA to live with his daughter and her family. He continued his research and published articles in both Chinese and American journals.

He devoted his life to meteorology and is a true scientist. He is also a loving parent and brother, providing support whenever needed. When his younger brother had no job, he took money out of his limited savings to help him start a business. When his daughter planned to purchase a property for the temple, even though he took the neutral position “neither for nor against”, he gave her a big sum to help with the property payment. After he gave up his meteorology research due to lack of funding and access to research data, he worked in Food Lion and Dave & Busters, and later moved on to stock trading to provide financial support to his son in China.

He was frugal all his life, enjoyed playing Go, and practiced Qigong and walked everyday. He read widely, and called himself an “independent thinker”.

Being a scientist searching for truth, he was an atheist for most of his life. During the last few years, he had more experience with spiritual cultivation in his daughter’s family temple. On May 23, 2025 he had a divine experience after which he claimed “God is great”. Since then he reconciled science and spirituality, and his final conclusion was “Dao is the Truth, Truth is God”. His last wish was to see the new temple to be built.

In addition to his beloved wife, Minjun, he is survived by his daughter, Jing Wang; son in law, Benjamin Eng; son, Bin Wang; daughter in law, Daofang Xia; his cherished grandchildren, Jonathan, Michelle, Jacquelyn, and Jiayu; his siblings, Huifeng, Fengbao, Xingxiang, Xinggui and their families.

After services, there will be a vegetarian lunch provided at the Shan Yi Temple.
