William Douglas Stapleton

William (Bill) Douglas Stapleton, 61, of Severn, Maryland passed away peacefully on Friday, September 8th, 2017 with his family by his side. Born March 25th, 1956 in Grundy, Virginia, he was the son of Ellen F. (Thornton) Moore, Clarence D. Stapleton, and stepson to George B. Moore. He was a devoted father to son William (Billy) David Stapleton, daughter Amanda Marie Stapleton, and daughter in-law Tara Lynsay Stapleton. In addition to his children, he is also survived by brother’s Anthony and Richard Stapleton, Michael Moore, and sister Virginia “Jenny” Gross. Bill was a graduate of Bladensburg High School, class of ’74. He worked at Southland Corporation (7-11) as a retail auditor. He was an avid Washington Redskins fan and enjoyed attending Baltimore Orioles games with his son. Bill enjoyed everything about Maryland, including his love for a Maryland style crab cake. He also enjoyed traveling to Virginia with his kids to visit Luray Caverns, Great Falls Park, and Skyline Drive. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1411 Annapolis Road, Odenton, Maryland 21113 where a memorial service will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 11:00 am.
