William James McMullen, “Bill” a resident of Odenton, MD, passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at his home. He was 72. Bill was born on May 18, 1949 in Baltimore, MD and was the son of the late Donald L. McMullen, Sr and Miriam Esther ( nee Larkin) McMullen.
After Receiving his Bachelor’s Degree, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army and served a one year tour of duty (1968) in South Vietnam as a counter intelligence investigator. After serving his country, Bill had a 30 year career through the ranks of transportation, logistical and food services related companies. Highlighted by 9 years as Transportation Manager of Ringling Bros. Circus and Ice follies.
Bill had many interests and hobbies. As an accomplished soccer player, he had a lifelong passion for the game and officiated at a very high level. He was the lead singer and harmonica player for The Strangley Insane Band and was an active member of the South Shore Recovery Club.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife, JoAnn McMullen; son, Ryan McMullen (Mandy); daughter, Jackie Major (Chris); three grandchildren, Greta, Magnus and Dean; devoted brothers, Donald McMullen, Jr. (Karen) Timothy McMullen, Kevin McMullen (Linda), Paul McMullen (Mary); caring sisters, Sharon Ansorge, (Bernd) and Susan Wojciechowski, (Richard); and a host of nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his sister-in law, Mary Wissel McMullen.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at 8:15 am at St. Bernadette Parish, 801 Stevenson Road, Severn, MD 21144. Interment will be private.
