William E King Jr. met his Lord on June 28, 2025.
Bill was born on 10/26/1931 to William and Catherine King of Baltimore, MD. He grew up in the Morrell Park neighborhood of Baltimore, playing baseball through his youth. He graduated from Southern High in 1949. He entered the US Army and became an intelligence officer during the Korean War. He spent the rest of his career with the Department of Defense as a language analyst, retiring from NSA in 1991.
Bill was a devout Christian, a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Linthicum, MD for 65 years. During that time, he was active in several ministries including Sunday School leader, usher, Church Council. His favorite ministry was the Tuesday Men’s Group – working on small projects around the church, but especially the fellowship of cake and coffee at the end of the morning.
Bill is survived by Lois, his wife of 68 years. Together they raised three daughters – Kimberly (Alex), Amy (Bill) and Jennifer (Rick). They celebrated many family times with their 7 grandchildren – Sarah, Johanna, Matthew, Nicholas, Alyson, Benjamin and Rachel. They continued their family fun with 8 great-grandchildren – Caroline, Emmet, Marshall, Caleb, Evelyn, Indie, Arthur and Brielle. Theirs was always a home full of life and laughter.
After retirement, Bill pursued other interests. He enjoyed traveling with Lois and the family, bowling, golf, gardening, Baltimore Colts, Ravens, and the Orioles. In his later years, he took up reading, especially historical biographies, and word puzzles.
A memorial service will be held on July 22 at 1 pm at St. John Lutheran Church, 300 W. Maple Rd., Linthicum, MD. An honor guard presentation will be conducted immediately prior to the service. All relatives and friends of Bill are invited to attend. A reception will follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of William King Jr. to his favorite charities: Shriners Hospitals for Children , Tunnel to Towers Foundation , VFW , or the Odenton Volunteer Fire Department . Thank you!
