William Edward Dobrzykowski, a devoted family man and distinguished financial leader, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026, at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Born on August 22, 1944, in Baltimore, Maryland, William’s life was marked by a deep commitment to public service, professional excellence, and above all, the enduring love he held for his family.
William’s journey began with a solid educational foundation, earning his bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland and obtaining his CPA Certification. Beyond the classroom, he dedicated six years to serving his country in the National Guard Reserve, embodying a spirit of duty and resilience that would define much of his life.
His professional career was both impressive and impactful. William held the esteemed position of Chief Financial Officer for the Securities and Exchange Commission. He also contributed his expertise at the Home Loan Bank Board and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Along his government career, William had his own Tax Practice up to the present. Earlier in his career, he worked at Price Waterhouse, where his keen financial acumen first began to shine. Yet, despite his notable achievements, William’s highest priority remained his cherished family.
William’s personal passions brought him joy and enriched his life in countless ways. He delighted in boating, swimming, and picnicking, often creating lasting memories while vacationing with his loved ones. A true enthusiast of sports, he enjoyed college basketball and football, with a special loyalty to Notre Dame. The music of the 1950s also held a special place in his heart, echoing the fond moments of his earlier years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan E. Dobrzykowski, with whom he shared nearly six decades of marriage a testament to their deep bond and unwavering support. Together, they raised a wonderful family. His devoted daughters, Amy Dobrzykowski and Holly Seghetti, along with her husband Jack, carry forward his legacy. His son, Michael Dobrzykowski, and seven grandchildren—Bradley, Haley, Hannah, Benjamin, Matthew, Andrew, and Jonathan—were sources of immense pride and happiness to him. William is also lovingly remembered by his brother Robert Dobrzykowski and wife Arlene, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who cherished his kindness and guidance.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Frank J. Dobrzykowski and Gertrude Mary Novak, whose memory lived on in his values and character.
Friends, family, and all who knew William are invited to honor his memory with visitation on March 24, 2026, at Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1411 Annapolis Rd, Odenton, MD 21113, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and again from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
