Wesley R. Herman, Sr., 77, of Severn, MD, passed peacefully from this earth on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at his home. Sonny was born on October 18, 1938 in Connellsville, PA, to the late Russell and Frances (nee Hensel)Herman. He was predeceased by one sister, Rose Leighty of White, PA. He is survived by his devoted wife of 18 years, Betty L. Herman, his first wife, Betty R. Holden, of Jacksonville, FL, and their children Sandy Russell of Jacksonville, FL, Fran Shipley (John) of Abingdon, MD, Rusty Herman (Vickie) of Clear Spring, MD, Rob Herman (Michelle) of Arnold, MD, and adopted son Kenny Faulkner (Terry) of Odenton, MD, as well as thirteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. He is also survived by six step-children, 13 step-grandchildren, 18 step-great-grandchildren and many extended family members in the Normalville, PA area.
Sonny was employed for 30 years at the Broening Highway General Motors Plant and was a member of Local Union Hall #239. He was an avid hunter who deeply loved and cherished his family. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 11am at the Masonic Lodge, 1206 Stehlik Dr., Odenton, MD with a gathering immediately following. Per Sonny’s request, in lieu of flowers, please make a memorial contribution to your favorite charity.
