In Loving Memory of Vincent Patrick DeThomas

November 24, 1934 – July 30, 2024

Vincent (Vince, Vinnie) Patrick DeThomas, 89, Severn, MD passed away on July 30, 2024, he was the beloved husband to Joyce (Reichelt) DeThomas and loving father to Dino, Deena, and Scott DeThomas.

Vincent was born on November 24, 1934, to Giuseppe Antonio and Mary (Mae) Maddellein (Head) DiTomaso, in Woonsocket, RI.  He was raised by his uncle and aunt, John and Lena Head in Woonsocket, RI.  Vincent lived most of his adult life in Maryland as a small business owner in the horse racing industry, as it was handed down to him by his Uncle John. He was a professional handicapper who owned both Jack’s Little Green Card and the New York Handicap.  He worked the tri-state racetracks.  Although Vincent had a very successful career, he was most proud to have been a United States Marine.  He served two years active duty; most people would have assumed he retired from the Marines by the way he demonstrated his patriotism for this country.  Traveling with Joyce brought him joy and although they visited family often, their cherished places to visit were Las Vegas, NV and Williamsburg, VA.  He also had a love of cars, which was one of his favorite hobbies, along with taking photos at every family event.  He took a lot of pride in his yard, he thought he had the best mowed lawn in the neighborhood.

Vincent lived a full life.  He was a foundation of kindness, generosity, love, and patience throughout his life. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather whose gentle spirit, laughter and unwavering support made a profound impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him. He taught us the value of kindness through his everyday actions, and his love was a guiding light that will forever illuminate our lives.Bottom of Form
