Mr. Thurairatnam Appulingam, 70, of Araly West, Sri Lanka passed away in Rockville, Maryland on Tuesday, June 24th, 2014.
Mr. Appulingam was born on August 31st, 1943 to the late AppucuttyThurairatnamand late Selvaratnam. He was the beloved husband of Chandrakala, father of Arthiraiyan (Maryland) &Apiramy (Pennsylvania), grandfather of Easan, brother of Dr. Kathirgamakarthigeyan (UK), Sivasaththivel (Australia), the late Pathanchaly (UK)&Nagarajeswary (Sri Lanka).
Mr. Appulingam is a licensed Professional Engineer (US) and a Chartered Engineer (UK). He worked for Structural/Civil Engineering firmsin the U.S. (New York and Texas), Malaysia, Zambia, and Laos. Prior, in Sri Lanka, he was the Chief Engineer for the Sri Lankan Department ofLocal Government and Director of Ports & Harbors for Northeast Provincial Government. He graduated from theUniversity of Ceylon - Peradeniya, where he was President of the Hindu Students Union and spearheaded the construction of a Hindu Temple. He was also President of All Ceylon Young Men's Hindu Association (YMHA). He was an old boy of Jaffna College. He was the trustee of Sri Nagapooshani Amman Temple of Araly West, Sri Lanka
Funeral Services and Cremation will be held at Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory in Odenton, Maryland on Sunday, June 29th 2014 at 11:00 AM.
