Thomas Richard Baszkowski

Thomas Richard Baszkowski (Ski), 88, of Severn, Maryland, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2014 at the Mandrin Inpatient Care Center in Harwood, MD.

Tom was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on January 21, 1926 to Boris and Stella Baszkowski, originally of Poland. They instilled in him and his siblings, Stanley, Sigmund and Helena Miller, all deceased, a fierce pride in his Polish heritage.

Tom served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the LST700 and during the Korean conflict on the battleship New Jersey. He retired from C&P Telephone Company. He was an avid golfer, voracious reader, particularly of World War II history, and enjoyed sports, particularly baseball. He was an active member of the Bowie Civitan Association.

He was married to Josephine Mann and Jean Sheridan Semple. Tom is survived by his children, Nancy Ledoux of Duluth, Georgia; Thomas Richard Baszkowski, Jr., of Aylett, Virginia; Stacey Niebuhr, of Brookeville, Maryland; Paula Akers, of Crownsville, Maryland; and Deborah Mateik, of Bowie, Maryland, and their spouses. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1411 Annapolis Road, Odenton, MD, 21113 on Saturday, May 31, 2014 from 3:30 pm to 5:30pm. A Funeral Service will be held at 6:00 pm.
