Times of service to be posted upon completion
On February 12, Theresa “Terry” Rose Bell passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home after a long illness. Born in New York, Terry grew up in a military family, frequently moving as her father’s service took them to new places. Following in his footsteps, she proudly served her country as one of the first female combat airmen in the United States Air Force, breaking barriers for women in the military.
After raising her children in Dover, Delaware, Terry’s career took her across the world, from various locations in the US to Saipan and even Africa. She dedicated many years as a Database Administrator at East Carolina University (ECU) before finally settling in Bowie, Maryland, to be closer to her children and grandchildren.
A talented seamstress, Terry created clothing for herself and her loved ones, as well as outfits for her daughter’s dolls and elaborate costumes for her children’s roller skating competitions. Her creativity extended beyond sewing—she had a keen eye for design and took great joy in bringing her ideas to life.
Terry had a passion for adventure and travel, often visiting Las Vegas to try her luck at the Golden Nugget’s slot machines. She also had an appreciation for the simple joys in life, whether it was getting lost in the pages of a good book, enjoying classic movies, or sharing laughter with those she loved.
Her Catholic faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she found comfort in watching Sunday Mass on television in her later years. Prayer was an integral part of her life, bringing her peace and a deep sense of connection to her beliefs. She also had a deep love for animals, always providing special care to her beloved cat, Scrappy.
Above all, Terry cherished her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend who will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, creativity, and the warmth she shared with those around her. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the love she gave so freely.
She is survived by her son Robert A. Bell III of Delaware (wife Mary) and her daughter Cassandra L. Epling of Odenton (husband Darin); her sister Barbara Piccone of Ohio; and her many loving grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents Lucien and Irma Neveu and her infant brother Richard.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church in Davidsonville, Maryland.
