Theodore Paul Dorsey Jr.

August 29, 1934 — August 4, 2025

Theodore Paul Dorsey, III passed away peacefully on August 4, 2025 at his home in Waldorf, Maryland. He was born in Riverdale, Maryland on August 29, 1934 to Gertrude Virginia and Theodore Paul Dorsey, a World War II veteran buried at Arlington National Cemetery. Theodore began his career as a plumber and transitioned into carpentry where his true passion was.  He built his own homes and many homes for others as well.  His creative talent and expert craftsmanship skills were second to none.  After retirement, he enjoyed performing custom projects at the Navy Yard working to restore two-hundred-years old homes; and, remodeling, and creating custom Corian countertops for customers, friends and family. Theodore was a devoted supporter of his family's pursuits, with many projects at his daughter’s home in Maryland, and driving across the country several times to customize his daughter’s home in California.  He enjoyed doing an abundance of projects for his children, and he always enjoyed being with his grandchildren, attending motocross races, riding motorcycles, going to baseball games and ballet recitals. He was a very proud member of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution as his great-great-great grandfather Zephaniah Bryan, who was a “Patriot” who served in the American Revolutionary War.  He was very proud to also have his children and grandchildren as members as well.  He was looking forward to celebrating our country’s 250th Birthday next year.

He is survived by his children Theodore Paul Dorsey, IV, (Pam) of Slidell, Louisiana, Susan Dorsey Petrakes (Andy) of Aldie, Virginia, and Linda Dorsey Knowlton (Jimmy) of Severn, Maryland; grandchildren Paul, Scott, Christina, Jenny, Danielle and Raynne Dorsey; Sarah and Michael Petrakes; Tyler and Luke Knowlton; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia at a later date as he will be buried with his father. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Theodore’s name to: Quilts of Valor Foundation https://qovf.app.neoncrm.com/np/clients/qovf/donation.jsp?campaign=765&
