Thaniya Chareonvaravut of Ellicott City, MD, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Thaniya was born on May 28, 1946 in Koh Samui, Surat Thani, Thailand and was the daughter of the late Tang Yong-Kee & Han Gim-Lee. Thaniya grew up and went to high school in Koh Samui. Upon moving to Bangkok, she received an Associate's degree from Bangkok Commercial College. After that, she worked for the Customs Department of Thailand. When she moved to the United States, she worked at 7-Eleven in Baltimore and Rothschild in Pikesville. After she and Mr. Virat married in Maryland, she began franchising 7-Eleven on South Broadway in Baltimore in 1983. Since then, Thaniya opened Betty Brite Dry Cleaners (Ellicott City - 1988), Star Brite Dry Cleaners (Reisterstown - 1992), Rogers Custom Cleaners (Ellicott City - 1994), and Thai Aroma (Ellicott City - 2004). She loved sewing, helping people, making new friends, living in America, and the King of Rock & Roll. Her kindness and generosity resonated with all who met her.
Thaniya is survived by her beloved husband, Virat Chareonvaravut of Ellicott City, MD; loving son, Mati Chareonvaravut; loving daughter, Pailin Chareonvaravut Wang; eight siblings; and three grandchildren.
