 
 
Song Suk Cowell of Jessup, MD, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2017 at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD, at the age of 80. Suki was born on December 25, 1936 in Wakayama, Japan to the late Chong Chae Kuk and Pang Kwi Sun.
Suki was a proud Army wife, supporting her husband’s 30 year Army career. She was also creative in her own right, learning pastry under the renowned Pastry Chef Michel Barbet. During the 1976 Republican Convention in the Crown Center, Kansas City, she was President Gerald Ford’s Pastry Chef during his stay. She continued this career for a number of years. She also loved her Poodles and the family always had one. In later years she was affected with dementia, but always kept her care and concern for her family.
Suki is survived by her husband of 48 years, William J. Cowell, Jr.; her family in Korea; and extended members of Bill’s family.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Nichiren Shoshu Myosenji Buddhist Temple, 310 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD 20901 on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, Greater Maryland Chapter, 1850 York Road, Suite D, Timonium, MD 21093 or at www.alz.org/maryland .
