Sharon Lee Shorter

On July 6, 2026, Sharon Lee Shorter (Bodensick) passed away peacefully at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis at the age of 74. Sharon was an Elvis fan and a "Marylander" through and through. She was born and raised in Baltimore and later moved to Arnold. After graduating Severna Park High School, Sharon eventually made her home in Crownsville and began her career working at Nationwide Insurance. Later, "Ms. Sharon" worked as a teacher in the Infant Room at Play and Learn at Community Place. 

Sharon had a strong faith in God. She was a member of Grace Independent Baptist Church, where she faithfully served her Lord and Savior as a Sunday School and Children's Church teacher; a Pioneer Girls and AWANA Leader; Sunday School and AWANA Secretary; and, at one point, a member of Grace's Church Choir. 

Family and friends were very important to Sharon. She always treasured the time with them whether during special celebrations, holiday gatherings, or vacations (she especially loved going on her cruises and staying at Inn BoonsBoro in Boonsboro, Maryland). Sharon often made delicious cakes that were the highlight of many of her family's and friends' events. She will also be remembered for her wonderful Sausage Gravy & Biscuits at Grace's Easter Breakfast, her yummy Baked Ziti, and her famous Green Bean Casserole. 

Sharon was deeply committed to her involvement in the community. As a member of the Anne Arundel County Fair, she volunteered during many events. She was affectionately known as the "Head Witch" during the annual Halloween Happening, delighting generations with her unforgettable witch's cackle; helped with the annual County Fair; served on the Fair's Board of Directors; and assisted with the Antique Tractor Club. Sharon even served as a leader of her daughter's Girl Scout Troop #1353 at the Herald Harbor Community Center. 

Sharon is lovingly survived by her husband of 53 years, Jackie Wayne Shorter; her daughter, Jackie Marie Shorter; her grandson, Tristan Blevins; her brothers, Thomas Bodensick and Michael Bodensick; and her sister, Marie Frazier. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Bodensick, Sr. and Dorothy Bodensick (Hardingham), as well as her brother, Edward Bodensick, Jr. 

Sharon will be remembered for her unwavering faith; generous heart; joyful spirit; and the love she shared with her family & friends, church, and community. Her kindness, laughter, smile, and wonderful hugs will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
