Sandra Ann (Vargo) Bast

On August 1, Sandra “Sandy” Ann Bast (nee Vargo) passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 68.  Devoted wife of 26 years to Thomas “Tom” J. Bast Sr.; beloved mother of Kelly Bradley (husband Jonathan), Kristen Steele (husband Jackson), Summer Vickers, Jesse Bast (wife Brittany); loving step-mother to Thomas Bast Jr. (wife Jennifer) and Douglas Bast (wife Traci); caring sister of Robert Vargo, Nancy Cumins and the late Stephen Vargo; cherished grandmother of Justin Bradley, Shane Bradley, Layla Bradley, Timothy Steele, Haley Steele, Kailee Vickers, Richie Vickers Jr., Jordan Vickers, Brett Bast, Emily Bast, Luke Bast, Isabella Bast, and Brody Bast.  Sandy was also predeceased by her parents, Stephen and Josephine Vargo.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Sandy lived in California for many years where she worked as a Day Care Provider.  Upon moving to Maryland, she worked as a Finance Officer, most recently for the Bank of Glen Burnie.  Sandy loved everything about the summer time.  She enjoyed spending time at the pool and at the beach, wearing her flip flops, and basking in the sun.  She also liked to play bingo.  Most especially, she loved spending time with her family, her grandchildren, and her newest puppy Quinn.
