Samantha Katelyn Pointer

On August 13, 2026 our hearts shattered at the sudden and unexpected loss of our beloved Sam. Samantha Katelyn (Pointer) Moon entered the world on December 13, 1999 and proceeded to defy expectations for 26 years and 8 months. She was able to wrap groups of people around her little finger at an impressive rate for someone who couldn’t speak. The City of Odessa, TX fell in love with her through the news stories about her rare diagnosis of Angelman Syndrome while she was still a baby. An entire fire department in Augusta, GA fell in love with her in 2012 and regularly requested visits from her. She amused and flirted with people from Texas to Massachusetts in person, even more around the world online, and few were able to resist her giggles and sense of humor. She loved music, aquariums, bubbles, anything that squeaked when she squished it and snuggling that frequently turned to wrestling with her family and friends. Her many nicknames included: Sam, Sammi-Kate, Princess, Rockstar, Sissy, and Baby-Girl… But only her Dad and Grandpa were allowed to use that last one without being fussed at. Samantha is survived by her Mom and Dad: Melissa and SSG Darrell Moon; siblings: Auron Moon, Xander Moon, Drayden Moon and Jessie Pointer; grandmothers: Brenda Myers and Linda Moon; extended family, friends and found family across the world. A celebration of life is tentatively scheduled for September 12, 2026, in Maryland, specific location and time to be determined. Dress code will be casual, preferably bright colors to honor Sam.
