On September 1, 2013, Rudolph J. Saunders Jr. passed away after a lengthy illness. Born in Washington D.C. on August 18, 1944, Rudy lived in Gambrills for over 40 years. Devoted husband of 45 years to Clara Saunders (nee Woodward); Loving son of Gertrude Saunders of St. Mary's and the late Rudolph Saunders Sr.; Beloved father of Lisa Saunders Santiago of York, PA, Timothy Saunders and his wife Lisa of Edgemere and the late Kenneth Saunders; Caring brother of Carol Stanley and her husband Steve of St. Mary's; Cherished grandfather of Anthony Saunders, Jacob Gettman, Samantha Santiago, Timothy Saunders Jr., Matthew Saunders and Jada and Jewels Torres.

Rudy worked as a printer for Washington Star. He later worked for A. B. Dick as a salesperson before working in car sales. Rudy was a friend of Bill W. for 17 years. He enjoyed watching Nascar races and driving his T-Bird. He was a Redskins fan and also loved to travel with his wife. Most especially, he loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren.
