Rose P. Janak, a resident of Glen Burnie, MD, formerly of Odenton, MD, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2015 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center, in Glen Burnie, MD. She was 94. Rose was born on March 17, 1920 in Utica, NY, and was the daughter of the late Frank Palmisano and Minnie (Castelli) Palmisano.
Rose was predeceased by her brother Peter Palmisano and her sister Virginia (Palmisano) Christiano.
Rose retired in 1979 from her position as the Senior Claims Adjuster for the New York State Department of Labor after 30+ years. She made her home in Maryland where she became an active member of the community of Cedar Ridge in Odenton, MD. She was a staple at the Wednesday evening Mahjong table, enjoyed the theatre, concerts and the luncheons with the “ladies”. She read tirelessly, was a huge fan of the Opera and enjoyed most music genres. She passed her love of the arts onto her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was quick-witted, sharp, passionate, and always had a good story to tell.
Rose is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, James R. Janak of Glen Burnie, MD; two loving sons, Richard LoVecchio and wife, Phyllis of Utica, NY and John Janak and wife, Mary of Glen Burnie, MD; 5 devoted grandchildren; Dominick Lovecchio and Lynne LoVecchio Freeman; Justin Janak and his wife Erica, Peter Janak and Christine Janak; caring great grandchildren Kelsey Freeman, Mark Freeman, and Zachary Freeman; Jack LoVecchio, Katherine LoVecchio and Corinne LoVecchio.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 1283 Odenton Road, Odenton, MD 21113. Interment will be in Troy, NY at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, MD 21122.
