Rose Marie (Credit) Allen

Rose Marie (Credit) Allen, a resident of Severn, MD for 55 years, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at the age of 91. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph F. Allen, after 60 years of marriage, as well as both her parents and all 9 siblings. She is survived by her three children: Peter and Ellen (Hollis, NH), David (Severn, MD), and Diane and Randy Aragon (Severn, MD). She also leaves behind five grandchildren: Amanda Aragon, Alaina (Aragon) and Brett Carlson, Ariana Aragon, Emily Allen, and Julia Allen.

Rose was born on Friday, March 11, 1932, to Arthur Credit and Eva (Phaneuf) Credit, and raised in Haverhill, MA, and darn proud of it. In 1958, at the age of 26, after many years of her aunt asking to set her up on a date, she finally agreed. Rose and Joe were set up on a date, engaged shortly after, and married before the years' end. She moved with him to duty stations in Texas, Japan, and Maryland, where they settled after his retirement in 1968.

In addition to raising their three children, Rose enjoyed reading, spending time with friends at BINGO, bunco, and bowling. She was a dedicated Orioles fan, loved travel, especially cruising, and anything with a butterfly. Rose could spend hours with friends and family playing her favorite card games; pitch, cribbage, and Rummy. In recent years she kept her mind sharp playing along with Jeapordy and Wheel of Fortune, challenging others to Words with Friends, and completing the daily Wordle.

Rose enjoyed attending mass weekly, and was a dedicated member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Odenton, MD for 55 years. She and her husband earned the Archdiocesan Medal of Honor for Service. She especially appreciated the opportunities to celebrate with her family and watch them grow their faith.
