Rose Elizabeth Cookson

Rose Elizabeth Cookson of Woodstock, MD, formerly of Upper Marlboro, MD, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2012 at Northwest Hospital in Randallstown, MD, at the age of 76. Rose was born on July 7, 1935 in Henryetta, OK to the late Andrew Joseph Mietus and Elizabeth Ann (Mezaros) Mietus.

Rose's family was most important to her. She treasured all the moments spent with her brothers, sister-in-laws, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Rose also enjoyed her extended family of friends, many of them in the Girl Scouts Association, which was a major part of her life for many years. Many of the girls she mentored have kept in touch with her over the years. All who have known her have been touched by her loving nature and great sense of humor. Her stories and laughter will truly be missed.

Rose is survived by her four children, Paula Cookson of Finksburg, MD, Dan Cookson and his wife, Diane of Prince Frederick, MD, Carol Blodgett and her husband, Douglas of Westminster, MD and Chuck Cookson and his wife, Kimberley of Woodstock, MD; ten grandchildren, Michelle, Stephen, Janet, Joseph, Kelly, Amber, Jim, Joanie, Travis and Christina and two great grandchildren, Eternity and Dimitri. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Orin Cookson and her two brothers, Andrew Mietus and John Mietus.

The family will receive friends at Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. 1411 Annapolis Road, Odenton, MD 21113 on Sunday, June 3, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday, June 4, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham, MD.
