Roberta Marie Durant, affectionately known as "Bert," departed this life on April 27, 2024. She was born on December 30, 1950, to the late Robert Gaskins, Sr., and Rebecca Gaskins in Charleston, South Carolina.

In her journey through life, Roberta cherished her roles as a mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and cousin. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Kim Marie Durant, her parents, Robert and Rebecca Gaskins, and her siblings Tyrone Gaskins, Bernard Gaskins, Delores Sinclair, and Deborah Parker.

Roberta leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth, felt deeply by her surviving son, Ossie Durant, Jr. She is also survived by her sister Barbara Gaskins-Wallace, brothers Robert Gaskins, Jr., Michael Gaskins, and Leon Gaskins, as well as her grandchildren Sidney Durant, Devon Durant, and Derrick Durant, and five cherished great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, all holding special places in her heart.

After completing her high school education, Roberta embarked on a distinguished career with the federal government at the Department of Energy, where she spent 30 years of dedicated service. Her dedication and hard work were evident as she pursued her educational goals, earning her Bachelor of Science in Information Systems and Network Engineering from Strayer University in May 2000. She also pursued further academic achievements, completing the requirements for a Master of Science degree.

Roberta had a passion for music and found joy in playing the guitar. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing and dance. She appreciated the finer things in life, such as Waterford Crystals and designer clothing, but her greatest love was reserved for her faith in the Lord and her cherished family. In honoring Roberta's life, let us remember her kindness, her laughter, and the love she shared with all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in our hearts.
